In an effort to promote Small Business Saturday, President Barack Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha purchased more than 20 books at a local Independent bookstore in Washington called, Politics & Prose.
Earlier today, Obama tweeted: “When our small businesses do well, our communities do well. Join me and visit a small business near you today to celebrate.”
The president was at the bookstore for about 30 minutes and purchased 21 books including titles such as:
“Red Sparrow,” by Jason Matthews, “The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance,” by David Epstein, “Collision Low Crossers: A Year Inside the Turbulent World of NFL Football” by Nicholas Dawidoff, “All That Is” by James Salter, “A Constellation of Vital Phenomena” by Anthony Marra, “The Lowland” by Jhumpa Lahiri “Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail” by Cheryl Strayed, “Half Brother” by Kenneth Oppel, “Heart of a Samurai” by Margi Preus, and “My Antonia” by Willa Cather, among others.
